Speaker Coaching

“The art of communication is the language of leadership.”

James Humes

The art of impactful communication

As a communicator and public speaker, I have learned the hard way…it takes time, effort, patience and will power to be better at something that you struggle with.

As an organisation leader or business owner, effective communication, whether it’s to your staff, clients, suppliers or partners, is vital if not critical to be successful. And the art of impactful communication is often overlooked.

For the past 20 years, I have worked with leaders across industries on a 1-to-1 basis, supporting them and coaching them on how to hone their communication skills so that it becomes an active part of their leadership armoury.

Tell stories to engage and inspire others using a tried and tested structure and formula.

What we can do for you

Whether you are an experienced speaker, pitch expert or salesperson, or whether you are a novice who has never spoken in front of a group before, All About Impact coaches will design your one-to-one needs around you.

If you think I can support and mentor you through a life-changing process that will change the way you interact with on a professional level (and maybe on a personal level too), let’s talk.

What is included?

Depending upon individual needs, we will arrange a speaker coaching package designed to suit you. This may include a combination of face to face and online discussions, plus any amount of practice and video playback.

Refresher courses, or individual speaker coaching as a follow-up is often the perfect combination of processes for the material to be properly embedded.

Our speaker coaching service typically delivers the following outcomes:

  • Uncover what’s been stopping you, slowing you down and
keeping you stuck.
  • Feel more in control of your presentation.
  • Have a speaking system so you can manage your presentation
more effectively.
  • Have more confidence so you can enjoy speaking.
  • Have a crystal clear action plan on how to continue the work
we’ve started.

FAQ

A few things you might like to know about coaching

What topics do you coach on?

The topics we coach our speaker coaching upon are as follows: -
preparation - the need to put the hours in, in order to get the results you want. Preparation is tailored to each individual scenario, and it therefore often quite different, depending upon industry sector and audience seniority.
Mindset - as discussed, communicating with passion and integrity requires courage. We will work with an individual as much or as little as required in this area, to ensure that they have the confidence to reach the level they desire.

Delivery skills - we cover the following:
Storytelling
Creating the right mood in the room
Actions - gestures and movement
Stance and posture
Vocal delivery - pace, pitch, pause, volume, emphasis
Eye contact
Dealing with objections
Stagecraft - how to enhance your speech.

Is coaching like therapy?

Life - and performance - coaching has its roots in an understanding the the coachee (or person being coached) has the solution within them and is therefore almost exclusively question-based. Speaker coaching is very different and, whilst focussed exclusively upon the individual in question, does include tips, techniques and lots of practice. It is more about knowledge and technique sharing, as opposed to the traditional methods of questioning used in other disciplines.

Who is coaching suitable for?

Speaker coaching is suitable for anyone who wants to become as good as they can be - and are prepared to spend bespoke 1:1 time dedicated to achieving this.

Speaker coaching covers areas such as the skills, the preparation - but also the mindset needed to reach the required standard.

What is a mindset and communications coach exactly?

Very much as the title suggests. Communication - in this context - is all about passing on a message face-to-face, whether informally, during a meeting, say - or more formally, like in a pitch, a presentation or a conference speech.

The mindset element is exclusively designed with communication in mind. Speaking in public is often something that people dread, so building mental toughness is an integral part of the equation.

Can we meet face to face?

Most of our speaker coaching is face to face. However, the virtual - or online - option is also available, depending upon demand.

What do expect from me?

Expectations are clearly discussed before we start the process. if you outline what your outcome is at the start, we will ensure that the process follows everything required to get you to that outcome.

This may require 'homework' and practice by you, outside our sessions. The more the put into the process, the more you will get out of it.

From our side, we will give you as much support as we possibly can for you to reach your goals.
